The Jogger Who Pooped on People’s Lawns Is Getting Her Own True-Crime Special

Some mysteries are hard to crack…others are just a load of crap. We couldn’t help ourselves with that one, and you’ll see why.

Nearly a decade after a Colorado Springs neighborhood was plagued by a mysterious female jogger who repeatedly defecated on residents’ lawns…one of the strangest unsolved mysteries is getting the true-crime treatment it deserves.

TLC’s new two-hour special, “The Mad Pooper,” premieres Thursday, Nov. 19, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. It’s revisiting the bizarre 2017 case that made national headlines and left residents wondering who was responsible…and perhaps more importantly, why?

The unidentified woman, dubbed “The Mad Pooper,” became an unlikely internet sensation after repeatedly “relieving” herself outside homes in the Colorado neighborhood (despite reportedly having access to public restrooms nearby).

Local outlet KKTV reported that Colorado Springs resident Cathy Budde said her children first spotted the woman defecating outside their home. Budde eventually confronted the jogger, but the incidents reportedly continued. Budde told the station the woman had been returning at least once a week for seven weeks, leaving human waste and used toilet paper behind. She also confirmed public restrooms were available nearby, making the jogger’s behavior even more baffling.

Police launched an investigation as the story spread nationwide, generating headlines, internet memes and speculation about the woman’s identity and possible motives. Despite the attention, the woman was never publicly identified or arrested.

TLC is now reopening the mystery with archival news footage, firsthand accounts from residents and interviews with former law enforcement officials who revisit the investigation. The special explores whether the incidents were a prank, a personal vendetta or something else entirely, while looking into eyewitness accounts and new clues.

There is another issue at hand: even if the mystery is solved, criminal charges may no longer be an option. Colorado Springs attorney Jeremy Loew, who appears in the documentary, told KRDO that the statute of limitations has expired on potential charges stemming from the incidents.

That means the unidentified jogger may no longer face prosecution for the nearly decade-old incidents, even if her identity is eventually exposed.

“The Mad Pooper” premieres Nov. 19 on TLC and will be available to stream the following day, Nov. 20, on HBO Max and Discovery+.
